Beading: A Sensory Experience

Beading is a very rewarding activity, both creatively and sensorily.

Why Do I Bead?

I decided to start this blog as a way to document my journey in the world of bead weaving. I started beading in earnest in July 2023, though I had done a few pieces before that. I’ve been beading regularly for over a year now and I absolutely love it. I prefer the European/Russian style and aesthetics with crystals and sparkle, though I will occasionally use peyote or brick stitch. Beading is a rich and rewarding sensory experience for me. I love looking at and choosing beads, all the different colors and finishes that are available, different bead sizes and shapes, the sparkle and shine, and all of the different patterns and stitches, and the feel of the finished pieces. Beading gives me something to do with my hands while watching shows, and it’s quite portable because the projects I do are usually small.

I’ve tried many different crafts throughout my life (I’m in my early 40s) and beading is something that has just “clicked” with me. I also do occasional cross stitch, other general jewelry making, a VERY occasional resin pour or acrylic paint pour and other general crafts. I’ll probably post about those here too whenever it seems appropriate 😊
